Experience the Closest Encounter with the Giants of the Pacific
Each year, between January and March, the warm and calm waters of Bahía Magdalena and Bahía Almejas in Baja California Sur become the stage for one of the most astonishing natural spectacles on the planet: gray whale (Eschrichtius robustus) watching.
These impressive creatures travel over 20,000 kilometers from the cold waters of the Bering Strait and the Chukchi Sea, undertaking the longest known migration among mammals. Their destination: the coastal lagoons of Baja California Sur, where they come to mate and give birth to their calves in safe, shallow waters.
What makes the gray whale special is its calm and curious behavior, which allows visitors to observe them up close, and in some cases, even interact with them from the boat.
Mothers and calves can be seen at close range, offering unforgettable moments full of excitement and connection with nature.
This tour takes place in small, safe boats with expert local captains and guides who know the routes of these giants of the sea and the rules of respect and conservation that protect their habitat.
Bahía Magdalena and Bahía Almejas are considered privileged areas for whale watching due to their location, tranquility, and the high concentration of whales during the season.
