An Epic Adventure in the Pacific.

Experience a wild and thrilling adventure on our Bait Ball Expedition, a unique natural phenomenon that takes place in the open waters of the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of Bahía Magdalena and Bahía Almejas.

​

Every year, between October and December, millions of sardines migrate from the south of Isla Margarita to the north, near Isla Magdalena, forming massive schools known as bait balls. This massive migration doesn’t go unnoticed: an impressive variety of marine predators and birds follow the trail of this moving feast.

​

During this journey, up to 30 miles offshore, you’ll have the opportunity to witness spectacular hunting scenes:

​

• Thousands of common and bottlenose dolphins swimming in harmony

• Humpback whales, fin whales, and Bryde's whales breaching the surface

• Sea lions, tuna, mahi-mahi, and striped marlin in full action

• Seabirds such as pelicans, frigatebirds, diving ducks, seagulls, terns, and petrels diving down on the schools of fish

 

Additionally, you can enjoy snorkeling at strategic points where you’ll be able to swim among the fish and experience this underwater spectacle from a unique perspective.
